BRCA 1 mutation is most commonly associated with breast and ovarian cancer, but also increases the risk of cancers not as commonly discussed.  These cancers are fallopian tube, peritoneal cancers, pancreatic cancer, and prostate cancer.  Lung cancer is not increased in these patients.

 

A: This has a 55-65% lifetime risk in mutation carriers

B: There is a 39% lifetime risk of ovarian/fallopian tube cancers in mutation carriers.

D: There is a slight increase risk of pancreatic cancer in mutations carriers

E: Men have an increased lifetime risk of prostate cancer if they carry a BRCA 1 mutation.
